EDITORIAL
From newspaper columnists to bloggers and their readers around the state, what is becoming clearer by the day is that even if one of the many challengers pecking at the possibility of running against two term United States Senator Jim Bunning decided to enter the primary race against him, Bunning wins.
That makes for a very interesting scenario between May and November of next year. McConnell, who is barely holding on to his leadership position in the Senate, cannot afford to lose another republican seat, particularly not one from his own state.
There is no doubt but that McConnell has developed a ghastly reputation as a back stabber within his own party. If predictions of a Bunning win against all comers in May are true, it will be fun to watch as McConnell scrambles to help Bunning win in November 2010, all the while risking his now barely credible reputation for political prognostication manifested by what has become a familar refrain, the words of his own attempt at a self fulfilling prophesy, "he can't win".
If McConnell really has any clout left at all, he ought to invest a little of that now and face what others seem to be saying is the inevitable reconciliation he will attempt next June when Bunning will be his party's nominee and McConnell will want some of the credit for a November victory.
Many are saying it's time for McConnell to pull up his big boy pants sooner rather than later.

Nice words. it is maybe the only way for the R's hold the seat.

I support Rand Paul! Bunning voted for unbalanced Bush budgets, The Patriot Act, War in Iraq, and DHS. He doesn't go after the Department of Education, and Bunning failed to raise any issue about Obama'a birth certificate. We need someone who will stand up on more than bailouts!
