John McCain begins "Service to America" Tour

With these words John McCain begins his "Service to America" tour this week. In contrast, his democratic opponents continue their blood letting for the advancement of the cause of liberalism.

“I am the son and grandson of admirals. My grandfather was an aviator; my father a submariner. They were my first heroes, and their respect for me has been one of the most lasting ambitions of my life. They gave their lives to their country, and taught me lessons about honor, courage, duty, perseverance and leadership that I didn’t fully grasp until later in life, but remembered when I needed them most. I have been an imperfect servant of my country for many years. But I am their son, and they showed me how to love my country, and that has made all the difference for me, my friends, all the difference in the world.”

Another Al Gore Oddity: Do the math, where's all his money?

Al Gore won the Nobel prize, has an Oscar winning movie, a best selling book, a salary from a venture capital firm and several other monetary prizes.  He is starting a new project and has donated all of these financial rewards to it.

But something doesn't seem to add up.  According to The Washington Post, his goal to raise $300 million to support his new project is already half way home.  Included in the project's first announced success is Gore's own personal contribution.  But read what the WaPo says about this:

"While Gore declined to quantify his contribution to the effort, he has devoted all his proceeds from the Oscar-winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," the best-selling companion book, his salary from the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers and several international prizes, such as the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, which add up to more than a $2.7 million."

If this is true, Gore's earnings are a pathetic joke.

Oh well, you get what you pay for, I guess.

New Threat: Al Qaida Training Operatives Who Look Like Americans

There goes any hope for preventing terrorism by profiling Arab looking young men wearing bulky trench coats and carrying a device with a red button and wires in their hands.  Al Qaida is now recruiting "western" looking operatives.

According to a report on Breitbart.com quoting CIA Director General Michael Hayden, "The new recruits "look western" and "would be able to come into this country ... without attracting the kind of attention that others might."

Great.  Now I guess our terrorists could even look like this:

Slim

How's this for transparency: Mark Hebert Admits The Press Tried To Set David Williams Up For Criticism

I'm sure the press can point to evidence that they are an equal opportunity offender, but Mark Hebert has admitted that the press was trying to set David Williams up for public criticism in a way that smells of a political agenda.

On his political blog Mark was ruminating about the budget process going on in Frankfort.  He said:

"When I pressed House Speaker Jody Richards on opening up the budget conference committee last week and he agreed, we didn't expect David Williams to go along."

Now the "we" in that phrase must mean the Frankfort press corps, since Hebert works alone.  I'm sure it didn't mean "me and the democrats", though some of my over zealous republican friends could easily have taken it that way.

But then when Hebert quoted others in the "we" group his report revealed a disturbing look at the predatory "we" against "them" mentality apparently shared by those in the main stream media with whom Mark converses.  He said:

"When Williams joined the "open it up" crowd, one Frankfort reporter replied "damn, he called our bluff." In other words, the Frankfort press corps wasn't really chomping at the bit to cover hours and hours of tedious talk about the budget, despite our repeated clamoring for the conference committee meetings to be open to the public."

Thank you Mark.  Though I fully understand that you and the press corp are in the news "business", your report should provide some degree of comfort to many nervous conservatives out there who have often said that just because they are paranoid doesn't mean somebody isn't really out to get them.

It looks like there really might be a predator press after all.

Another Case Made For The Psychosis Of Liberalism

Bert Prelutsky is a fun guy to read.  He knows how to weave words into an entertaining and enlightening bit of prose like few others.  Today he makes a good case for the psychosis of liberalism.  Here's a tease:

"Politicians, unlike cops, firemen and members of the military, are not called upon to do anything dangerous, heroic or the least bit self-sacrificial. Instead, they build up fiefdoms on your tax dollars, go on junkets around the world, receive the sort of health care only millionaires can dream of and the sort of pensions no working stiff can even imagine.

I swear, when I see the ladies gazing up at Hillary Clinton, adoration shining in their eyes, or at the hordes of born-again left-wingers gathered to watch Barack Obama transform water into whine, I feel grateful that I don’t know any of them.

“When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious.”

Notable and Quotable

"The flesh is weak and we human beings often do foolish things that conflict with our own moral values. Not to excuse the hypocrisy of that, but who's the better person -- the fellow who advocates high moral standards and falls short occasionally or the person who never falls short because he advocates living an immoral life? Clearly, the former is the better husband, the better father, the better Christian, and just plain old better for our society. Hypocrisy is a notable failing, but there are still far worse things than hypocrisy. "

"Sorry" doesn't cut it. George Soros supported blogger deserves punch in the mouth

We all know that George Soros is a rabid liberal whose lust for destroying people has become legend.  It has also inspired others to follow suit, like a liberal Minnesota blogger who made fun of John McCain's teeth, then had to apologize.

You see, the effort of the liberals is to paint McCain as a"typical old white guy", with emphasis on "old".  Keith Olberman made fun of him yesterday saying McCain might be giving speeches on the need for more "depends".

But the insult by the woman who runs her George Soros supported blog at Minnesota Monitor may have taken the cake.  She was trying to drive disgust for McCain by criticizing his false teeth.  She said:

"...the 71-year-old has some serious grit. Of course, that grit comes in the form of McCain Mouth, a deformity that apparently causes teeth to look like a mess of yellowed and contorted Chiclets."

Uh, folks, John McCain does in fact have false teeth.  You see his God given teeth were bashed out by the ruthless communists who tortured him in captivity as a prisoner of war for five years.

In fairness the blogger did post an apology.  But her hatred and venom is inspired by her benefactor George Soros.  It's about time somebody gave HIM a punch in the mouth.

***THE ARMED CITIZEN*** An Every Friday Feature

A teenager and several other juveniles were enjoying one another’s company when three men knocked on the door. Police say the men asked about buying shoes, which didn’t arouse suspicion because the teen’s parents are street vendors.

That changed when the men forced their way inside and began burglarizing the residence. Apparently underestimated, the teen grabbed a .410-bore shotgun and shot one of the intruders. The men fled, but the injured suspect collapsed and died. A handgun was found in his pocket. (The Vicksburg Post, Vicksburg, MS, 12/31/07)
